Well, as of Feb 6 I am officially unemployed! That hasn't happened since college and after college I was right off to the Air Force. (Ok, well there was about two weeks of unemployment between when I was let go at my first job in Nashville, and was hired at Caterpillar, but that barely counts. :) )
There is something powerful about closure! It's over... the long journey of starting my own company is OVER! Now I can truly be a 'serial' entrepreneur. I always disliked that moniker because it sounds too much like 'serial' killer, lol, but really, I just love to innovate and try to come up with ideas that can be useful to someone and bring about some financial wherewithal. I survived a grueling 16 years of the journey and this icy mountain pic seems very apropos. Sometimes the weather came in, and it got real cold on that mountain of my entrepreneurial attempt! Though I didn't make it to the top in my view, I made it pretty high and it was a 'W' because I didn't die, though I did feel like it came close. Ok, I pretty much had to be rescued off the mountain, but I thank God for that!
These last 3 years have been alot of processing and healing from the PTSD of the few years before that, but now the time has come to start down new roads. I turn the big five 0 in a few weeks and I believe some of my greatest adventures are ahead! So that leads to my 'funnel' of opportunities I'm working on.
Ok, drum roll please, here are the 5 things I'm working on (in no particular order):
1. RentOrShare.IT - Summary: So I'm so excited about this concept I've been developing in my 'spare' time over the last 3 years. Basically, the idea is to leverage business assets that aren't full utilized by renting them or sharing them (depending on who it is from a social perspective, eg friends, charities, startup businesses, etc.). I'm currently working on building the initial team, customers, key enablers (insurance), and some of the fundamental legal documents, etc. Checkout this marketing video: https://youtu.be/lbQVAKkf8JA?si=WaLuMS7k2ox46Ntd. The MVP is already functional, it just needs some major improvements. I'm currently looking for investors, and customers (and already have a few guinea pigs)!
2. Do Good University! (Home - Do Good U) - Summary: My friend and one of my first board members, Lewis Greer, has been working on this concept for a very long time. He has traction and some amazing things are happening there, and I would potentially be part of the team to grow the concept. Andrea and I are traveling out to Phoenix in about a month to meet with Lewis and their board and other potential team mates.
3. Precision PICCs - Summary: My sister-in-law is a nurse in Cleveland and a specialist with PICCs (Basically, a way to deliver medicine for certain kind of patients). My brother-in-law is an enterprising guy, and we are working on developing a business around this service in Cleveland and Nashville.
4. Tiny Home Development - Summary: I have 18 acres in southern kentucky with a cabin on it that I was able to purchase in 2020. It's a beautiful area and I'm envisioning an event center with lake. The idea is to sell lots with tiny homes on them as 2nd homes and then create a separate company to manage the events, and renting the homes. This is coming together and is very exciting too!
5. King and City Executive Pastor - Summary: Andrea and I have been part of a startup church called King and City for the last 5 ish years, and I feel called to help them at a more focused level. We are on the lead team, and I have been part of the finance team, AV team, etc. So I am raising money ($50k) to work part time for the church. Interested in helping in my goal?
So if you're interested in talking more about any of the above, please let me know! Of course, I'm open to anything and everything at this point. I continue to recover from being over employed for so many years, and have enjoyed working on 'want to's' versus 'have to's'.
